Masters of the noble fibres

An Italian mill with world-class expertise in the noble fibres — sourced from the most remote corners of the earth. Alashan cashmere from the plateaus of Inner Mongolia, baby camel hair from the windswept Gobi, vicuña from the sacred Andean highlands of Peru. Fibres so rare that Piacenza remains the cloth an atelier reserves for its most exacting clients.

the family

One of the oldest mills in the world

Founded in Pollone, Italy, in 1733, Piacenza has remained in the hands of the same family for generations. Its enduring heritage and family ownership have earned it a place among Les Hénokiens — an international association of family businesses with more than two centuries of history.

Today, Piacenza is renowned for its expertise in the world’s finest and rarest fibres.

The Noble Fibres

The most precious fibres a fabric can be made from

Each fibre comes from an animal uniquely adapted to one of the world’s harshest environments and is collected only in tiny quantities. For generations, Piacenza has built its reputation on transforming these rare fibres into extraordinary fabrics.

Alashan Twill

100% Cashmere

Renowned for its exceptional fineness, softness and lightness, Alashan cashmere brings a rare refinement to suiting. Women into a Batavia twill, it combines an exceptionally soft handle with the structure and substance required for fine tailoring, creating a fabric that is luxurious without sacrificing character or presence.

Dunes

100% Baby Camel Hair

Inspired by the beauty of the sand dunes of the Gobi Desert, the Dunes collection celebrates the natural character of baby camel hair. Available as elegant plain fabrics, distinctive herringbones and beautiful solaros, each fabric brings a rich, earthy depth to suiting while preserving the distinctive golden character of the fibre.

The family

Vicuña — the fibre of the gods

Once reserved for Inca nobility, vicuña is one of the world’s finest and rarest natural fibres. The animals live wild in the Andean highlands, where their precious fibre is collected by hand. Piacenza has developed exceptional expertise in this remarkable fibre and, according to the mill, holds the world’s largest collection of vicuña fabrics.

The finishing

Finished with the thistle flower

Ever wondered what gives Piacenza fabrics their exceptional softness? The secret is the thistle flower.

Local experts select the finest thistle flowers for a traditional finishing technique known as teasing. The thistle gently raises the surface fibres, building a fuller texture and enhancing the fabric’s softness.
