Choosing Fabric

Choosing suiting fabric: keep it simple

Three names are enough for a great wardrobe.

Choosing a suiting fabric can seem unnecessarily complicated. There are endless mills, brands and collections, each with their own names.

It doesn’t have to be.

When choosing wool for a suit, start with three names: Vitale Barberis Canonico, Cerruti and Ariston Napoli.

Vitale Barberis Canonico

Within VBC alone, there are almost endless options — Super 110’s, Super 150’s, Wool Mohair, Wool Cashmere, 4-Ply, 21 Micron Covert, Flannel and much more. Enough variety to cover almost everything you could want in a wardrobe.

Cerruti

Cerruti offers just as much range — from Hollywood 2-Ply Twill and Travelissimo high-twist performance fabrics to Super 130’s, 150’s, 180’s and 200’s. For jackets, there’s Summer Tweed in cotton-linen and Oxygen in wool-silk. And for an evening out, Gala offers partywear fabrics. Again, everything you need is there.

Ariston Napoli

Ariston Napoli brings the personality of Naples, with bold colours, expressive checks, rich textures and more adventurous fabric compositions.

Know who made your fabric

When your tailor shows you a fabric, don’t be afraid to ask:

Who made it?

If you don’t recognize the name, don’t just take it at face value. Do a little research.

You don’t need to chase dozens of different names.

VBC. Cerruti. Ariston Napoli.

Three names worth knowing. More than enough options for a great wardrobe.
